World Climate Summit - (www.worldclimatesummit.com) - The New York Times wrote an interesting article about how Singapore is positioning themselves as a green center of excellence for Asia. Facing competition from Japan, China and South Korea, Singapore is trying to attract new green industries to its small city state. Recently, REC of Norway has concluded a billion dollar contract with the Singapore government to manufacture solar panels. The government has set aside $700 million for research and development in the clean tech sector. Other sweeteners include: low trading and taxes which has attracted a plethora of carbon and energy players such as Gazprom, Tricorona and EON.
